The Amex Resy credit: what changes on August 1, 2026
From August 1, 2026, the American Express Resy dining credit only works at restaurants that Resy flags as “Qualifies for Resy Credit.” Here’s what that actually means, what stays eligible, and how to check before you book.
The short version: nothing eligible today is going away — Amex says all currently-eligible restaurants stay eligible, and more (select Tock venues) are being added. The change is that eligibility is now an explicit badge, and the list can change over time.

Today the Resy credit works at almost any restaurant bookable on Resy. From August 1, 2026, a U.S. restaurant must be marked eligible on its Resy booking page or app at the time of purchase for the credit to apply. Resy now shows a “This venue qualifies for the Resy Credit” badge to make that clear.
What stays eligible
American Express has said it is not removing restaurants that are eligible today, and that it will add more — including select Tock restaurants once they become bookable on Resy later in 2026. So this is mainly a clarity/labeling change rather than a cull, but the eligible list can change at any time, so it is worth checking the badge before you book.
Which cards have the Resy credit
- The Platinum Card® — up to $400 a year in Resy statement credits, paid quarterly.

- Other Amex products may qualify — check your card’s benefits for the exact amount and cadence.

Frequently asked questions
- What is changing on August 1, 2026?
- Until then, the Amex Resy dining credit works at almost any restaurant on Resy. From August 1, 2026, a U.S. restaurant must be flagged as eligible — “This venue qualifies for the Resy Credit” — on its Resy booking page or in the app at the time of purchase for the credit to apply.
- Are restaurants losing the Resy credit?
- Mostly no. American Express has said every restaurant eligible today will remain eligible after August 1, and that it will add more venues — including select Tock restaurants once they become bookable on Resy later in 2026. So this is primarily a labeling/clarity change, not a mass removal, though the eligible list can change at any time.
- Which Amex cards have the Resy credit?
- Several, most notably The Platinum Card® (up to $400 a year in Resy statement credits, paid quarterly) and the American Express® Gold Card. Check your card’s benefits for your exact amount and cadence.
- How do I know if a restaurant qualifies?
- Look for the “Qualifies for Resy Credit” badge on the restaurant’s Resy booking page or in the Resy app. Our free map has an “Eligible after Aug 1” toggle that previews the badged list now, so you can plan ahead.
- How does the credit post?
- Pay with your eligible Amex card at a qualifying Resy restaurant and the statement credit posts automatically (quarterly for the Platinum Card). No separate activation is needed.
